Jante

Jante is a new employee of the ministry, and it’s his first day. From the moment he enters the building of the ministry, he discovers that every space is an altered reality.

There is something very different about this place; his colleagues are made of paper, there seem to be very strict rules that he must follow, and for some reason, there is an abundance of free coffee provided.

Is this new world a utopic work place or an office drones worst nightmare?

The movie is based on a set of unwritten rules, called the Laws of Jante. These rules apply on the daily living in Scandinavian countries. We wondered how a world would look like if these rules were real laws.

Each space within the movie is a architectual translation of each single rule. Inspired by movies like High Rise, Brazil and Clock Work Orange

This film was created in collaboration with Allegra Santis and Milou Simons, 4th year Interior Architecture students at the Royal Academy of Art The Hague (KABK), in The Netherlands.
